Investigation of the resistance of wheat against T2, HT2, DON and NIV Fusarium mycotoxin contamination
Abstract
The objective of this project is to develop new tools for breeding wheat cultivars with increased resistance to Fusarium mycotoxins. The specific topic addressed in this project is especially the relation between resistance of wheat to type A trichothecene (T2, HT2) producers and type B trichothecene (DON, NIV) producers. In order to reach this goal we will evaluate a series of wheat genotypes for resistance to different Fusarium species with different chemotypes in inoculated field trials and for resistance to several purified Fusarium toxins in the greenhouse.
