AMC Waldviertel-Line - Active Mobility Consultancy for the Waldviertel-Line
Abstract
The Waldviertel-line is a high-speed public transport offer for operating within the boundaries of Waldviertel. The operation which started in December 2009 suffers of low demand. Several factors are responsible for that: too little knowledge about the service and too few marketing activities; no validity of OeBB-Vorteilscard on the line; too few bus stops; complicated daily trips, which are only feasible by going by car. With Active Mobility Consultancy public transport operators frequently keep customers and gain even more. It would also be a good supplement for the shortly opened mobility office, because also non-customers, who are basically interested but didn't manage to make the first step, will be contacted. A pilot study will be made by a campain along two lines with a sample of 1,500 households. The contacted housholds get individual informations to the Waldvietel-line. Moreover they will be asked about weaknesses of and improvements for the Waldviertel-line to optimise the oparation from the customer's point of view. The results will be documented, an evaluation of the gained effects would be desirable. But this is not secured due to financial reasons.
