Small scale laboratory experiments to optimize different types of functional check dams
Abstract
In the framework of the INTERREG project SEDALP different measures of controlling sediment transport in torrential catchments should be evaluated in context with longitudinal sediment continuity. Therefore different experiments in the laboratory should be carried out taking widely used construction types. Additionally elongated and pear-shaped sediment retentional areas are foreseen to be physically modelled. For all constructions with filtering and dosing functions horizontal and inclined steel beams have to be considered. The experiments should evaluate the variation of sediment transport of these structures including the influence of coarse woody debris.
