- Abstract:
- Modelling of the solid waste quantity in public enterprises
Since the total amount of waste generated by commercial and industrial
enterprises in Austria is five time higher than what is produced by households
and considering that consistant data is only available for latter, it is worth
having a closer look to solid waste produced by public institutions to know
about the potentials of waste minimizing.
The aim of the thesis was to be able to quantify the amount of solid waste
collected separatly by the enterprises and the routes of distribution. The
thesis took into consideration enterprises concerning to social and public
institutions like medical and public enterprises, education, post offices,
police, etc. The data of solid waste were investigated at the place where
the waste is produced (within the enterprises). Following a statistical
evaluation the amount of the solid waste quantity in public enterprises was
generated.
Finally positiv examples (enterprises collecting separatly most of the solid
waste) and their system for the collection of solid waste are portrayed. As
the data analysation shows it is worth for an enterprise to separate solid
waste in Vienna not only for positive ecological effects (like preservation
of ressources) but also for economical advantages.
