- Abstract
- Steep slopes along traffic infrastructure in terms of shotcrete walls are necessary to guarantee slope stability and also to keep the required space low. These steep slopes are in line with the optimisation of their technical function, however they save also „green potential“ providing a wide range of eco-system services. One precondition to take advantages is developing an integral approach combining technical as well as biological components.
The challenge is to develop a system that permits establishing vegetation in a sustainable and economically efficient way.
Such ‘green walls’ are well integrated into the landscape, optimize resource management and result in long term and sustainable benefits related to the mitigation of climate change.
