Abstract
So far, interactions between soil chemistry and dendrochemistry were not studied for Norway spruce in Austria. It is hypothesized that dendrochemical parameters are useful for detecting differences of vitality between spruces in secondary pure spruce stands and in natural mixed species stands. If there are significant correlations between data of wood chemistry and soil chemistry, changes of soil chemistry due to species composition will be reconstrucetd over the last decades.
